Award winning documentary photographer and writer Samuel Eder is devoted to capturing ordinary people caught up in extraordinary situations. Inspired by communities tempered in hardship, and hostility, Samuel's work explores a dark, more passionate, and sincere side of human nature.

For series The Face Of Donbas (2019/2020) he spent several months photographing life on the frontlines of Ukraine's war. Visiting both sides of the conflict, he was embedded with troops and worked closely with local aid groups – photographing the perpetrators, victims, and bystanders of this grim conflict.

Samuel has continued to work in the Ukraine conflict zone, and other post-soviet spaces, writing for The Guardian, ABC News, The Wire, and Radio Free Europe. Today the Austrian / Australian is working as a emt in Vienna.
